I know people are going to argue against that opinion and honestly their not wrong for it in a lot of ways.įor me the fun in Diablo III in the seasonal content grinding for hours on end for one item that rolled at perfect stats for my build for my class. So as someone who is currently playing Diablo II for their first time ever and only having played Diablo III, I can tell you I'm not having as much fun playing Diablo II personally. Tl dr if you like to grind and be challenged, D2 if you want to sit back and destroy millions of enemies without thinking, D3. I enjoy grinding and the thrill of the hunt for the perfect weapon or armor, and that all came far too easily with D3. Even then, acquiring the needed gear can take many, many hours as RNG is a bitch. You will more than likely need to look up build guides to understand synergies to get past nightmare. You can more or less brick a character if you use some of the stat or skill points incorrectly and waste your respecs and didn't realize you were limited to only two (unless someone trades/donates one to you). You can start fresh not knowing anything and have a near perfect build within a week, wrecking 95% of the content.ĭiablo 2 is kind of punishingly hard. Probably didn't help I started on xbox and then went to pc so I was used to using a controller.ĭiablo 3 is kind of mindless fun. I'm more used to FPS games on PC and the whole movement with the mouse thing always threw me off. It might be kind of a hot take, but I prefer using controller while playing D2 on PC.
